Preparing for our new season part one

Hi

It has been a great week.  I have been working hard at getting the episodes ready for our next season of Super Hero 101.  I watch the whole Don Winslow of the Navy serial.  For the show I will watch through each serial about four times before I am able to write our parts for the show.  I am really looking forward to showing you this serial in the future.  I have also been working on some Virtual Comics from Don Winslow that go along with these episodes.  I found some great stories that might bring a smile to your faces.  I also got to work with some great people providing the voices for me.

This week starts the Perils of Nyoka serial.  Marvelette is hosting it and will bring out some surprises.  I have always been fond of the serials with a female lead (Zorro's Black Whip, Perils of Nyoka, and Panther woman of the Congo).  Kay Aldridge plays the Jungle girl with vigor.  The masked man, Clayton Moore, makes a great leading man. The evil Vultura is captured so well by the beautiful Lorna Gray. I hope you enjoy this set of episodes, I know I had a great time putting them together.

I have not forgotten to post a Super Hero 101 virtual comic.  These are addition to the episodes so you may see them during some of the future episodes but if you want to get a preview check the next episode here:

What I'm up to at Super Hero 101

This has been a real challenge for me, to write something every week.  I know it has only been three weeks, so far, but It is a stretch.  I have been producing this show for over ten years and have been faithful in getting the episodes completed on time.  Each episode requires research and writing before we film, then we edit and color correct all before you get to see what we have come up with.  Each week I am working on the episodes at least four months from now.  I enjoy it, but writing about it is hard.  This week I am working on the virtual comic segments for some future episodes, I can't wait to show you what I have planned but I will just have to tease you a little longer.  Until then here is a tribute we did for an episode with the Perils of Nyoka.

Super Hero 101 puts together new material

I don't have to remind you how hard it is to keep a show that has been on air for ten years.  What have we tried?  What haven't we tried? Is this working?  These questions are always on my mind.  But I would love to hear from you.  I am working on some new segments but I would love to hear what you would like to see.  I can't make any promises but if I can make it work I would love to try some new stuff.

Our first new item we will be adding to the show is a little biography for some of the actors who put their hearts and souls into making these cheap serials.  I have enjoyed watching the serials since I was a kid (I found them on video cassettes, I did not see them on the silver screen).  I never paid that much attention to the actors and actresses until I became an adult.  Most of them are no longer with us but I have been enjoying learning about each one.  This segment would generally fall before the first commercial break.  These segments won't start until the end of January but I will give you all a preview of that segment for the next few weeks.

That is something from the future but how about something from now.  Episode 331 of Super Hero 101 (Original air date 12/9/19).  The Silver Bullet brings us to another lesson using the classic movie serial The Undersea Kingdom chapter 8.

A New Phase for Super Hero 101

Welcome to Super Hero 101.  We have been on air with WIVM at 12:30 AM Monday for ten years, I guess it is time for phase two.  Over the last ten years we have tried many new segments while keeping the continuity.  We are a movie host program.  We host the movie serials from the 30's to the 50's in a unique way, keeping the integrity of the film but enjoying a laugh or two along the way.  So this site will give you a look at our finished product as well as some glimpses into what we have in mind for our future.  I hope to show you somethings often times hidden behind the curtain.

Please enjoy our most current episode:

Return with us next week with a new episode and another surprise.
